We are aware of sweepstakes scams affecting our customers. If you receive a notification with an unexpected check in the mail, this is likely to be a check scam.
A letter arrives claiming that you’ve won a large prize from a giveaway. As proof, there’s an actual check for a portion of the prize amount in the envelope. All you have to do is deposit the check and wait to receive further instructions such as wiring money to claim the rest of your prize. The check you received will typically bounce and you will be out the money you send.
Please report such scams to your local law enforcement, and to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
